The Necessity of Faith

54745297_sIn the process of restoration the Church enjoyed a season of faith teaching that brought believers to a greater level of victory in life.

“This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”  1 John 5:4 NKJV

Many of today’s believers in the Apostolic and Prophetic Movement did not come through this season of faith teaching and may need to catch up by revisiting some of the voices of that era of ministry during the 70’s and 80’s. This teaching was so important and launched many of the large and prominent ministries that are touching the world today.

Jesus responded to the Centurion’s faith by saying, “Go your way; as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” Matthew 8:13 NKJV

The Lord noted the Centurion had great faith and called this important truth to the attention of the disciples who were along to witness faith in operation under the ministry of Jesus. I believe that today’s disciples also need to witness and understand this level of faith. The Centurion needed only the spoken word in order to believe he had what he desired. When we are requiring some sense evidence before we can believe we already have the thing we desired, we have not yet exercised biblical faith that is the “evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

“When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed. “Assuredly,I say to you, I have not found such GREAT FAITH, not even in Israel.” Matthew 8:10 NKJV

Where is the Lord looking for “great faith” today? In His Church, of course. Jesus was the first faith teacher and taught His disciples to understand the different levels of faith by defining them as they occurred in His ministry. Jesus mentions…

“Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have NO faith.” Mark 4:40 NKJV

“Oh you of LITTLE faith, why did you doubt.” Matthew 14:32 NKJV

I have not found so GREAT faith.” Matthew 8:10 NKJV

“O FAITHLESS generation, how long shall I be with you.” Mark 9:19 NKJV

The Apostle Paul, also a mighty “faith teacher” said the following regarding “faith”..

“The just shall live by faith.” In other words, “Faith is the believers way of life.” Romans 1:17 NKJV

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17 NKJV

“your faith grows exceedingly”  2 Thessalonians 1:3 NKJV

“…God has dealt to each one, a measure of faith.” Romans 12:3 NKJV

“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith.” Romans 4:20 NKJV

“…Above all, taking the shield of faith…” Ephesians 6:16 NKJV

These verses and many others show us the necessity of having a growing faith that can receive the great things God has for us all, both personally and in ministry to others.

In order for a believer to be a person of restoration each one must drink from every stream of truth that has been restored to the church.

“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God.” Psalm 46:4 NIV

The River of God is made up of all truth of scripture and all gifts and ministries of the Spirit as implied by Luke and Jesus..

“whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.” Acts 3:21 NKJV

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24 NKJV

God has been restoring His Church with “spirit and truth” as “line upon line” of revelation comes and wave after wave of the Spirit releases gifts and grace to us. The Scripture is called “the Word of Faith” because it produces faith. As FF Bosworth stated in his classic book, “Christ The Healer.”

“God sends His promise, when the promise produces faith, then faith produces what was promised.”

The stream of revelation that came to the Church known as the “Word of Faith Movement” was   one of the greatest moves of God in Church history and would be vital for every believer who desires to move in apostolic faith and be used by God in these perilous times when “great faith” is a necessity for us all.
